What You’ll Learn
This is the module that defines our programme. You will learn what cybersecurity actually is, how threats have evolved, and why every modern organisation depends on it. You will study malware, phishing, social engineering, weak configurations, and how attackers think. Then you will learn the defences — authentication and access control, firewalls, intrusion detection, encryption, backup and recovery, security policies, and incident response.
You will also study the legal and ethical side: data protection rules, cybercrime legislation, responsible disclosure, and the professional codes that govern this field.
What You’ll Do
You will work in our lab with virtual machines, password managers, packet inspection tools, and basic security utilities. You will analyse real-world cyber incidents and propose what could have been done differently. You will produce a written risk assessment for a small organisation, a real, employer-ready deliverable.
Why It Matters
Cybersecurity is one of the highest-demand skill areas in Nigeria and globally. This single module gives you the vocabulary, the mental models, and the foundational hands-on experience to start building a career in this field.
